I think some people are not really grasping the likely sales trajectory of Astro Bot. There are some helpful comparisons though. Crash bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy sold 2.5m copies in its first 3 months, and broke 20m lifetime. It takes Two sold 1m in its first month. It’s now sold 30m+.

Astro Bot has not been as heavily discounted but it’s already shown strong legs. It will likely break 10m. The fact that it’s never been discounted on PSN beyond 25% probably suggests it’s sales have been strong.

Sony has been relatively "stingy" with discounts throughout the generation across virtually all titles. They're conditioning their fans to buy their games expensive compared to prior generations and most 3rd party games. Their sales can decline and they won't care as long as the revenue is up.

But maybe they'll be more generous with Astro Bot, as its default price is $60 and it's been bundled for free for a time. It's probably the kind of game that benefits a lot from heavy discounts.
