Look, $80 ain't cheap, especially at a time when the dollar is trash. Haven't we been here before though?
No, I'm not talking about inflation silliness. I'm talking about paying even more than $80 for our games without batting an eye.
How many bought the DLC for BOTW? You paid $60 for the base game and another $20 for the expansion. That's $80 for Zelda.
All 3 Xenoblades had $30 expansion passes on top of the $60 base game. Granted, you got a whole extra game but still, you paid $90 for Xenoblade 3 times.
Who bought MK8D and didn't get the booster pass? $85 for Mario Kart
Splatoon, Smash, Pokemon S/V, Fire emblem 3 Houses/Engage. Getting the full gaming experience for these titles ranged from $80 to $95.
It's even worse when you go outside of Nintendo with games like Street Fighter and GTA.
Maybe Nintendo is greedy, or maybe the consumer taught them these price points are okay. Maybe the price point isn't the issue but rather it's feeling you're not getting value for dollar. What's the difference in Nintendo charging $60 for FEFW and having a $25 expansion and just charging $80 for the game?
.....$5?
