That happened in the US so did you know that today alone over 100 people will die from car accidents over there with thousands also being injured? Self driving vehicles already being overall safer than human drivers on average is an established fact. There are certainly issues to iron out but driving is undeniably an area where AI involvement is a massive positive so governments not being faster at allowing that is killing many more people.

Try telling that to the first responders who were delayed by that stupid AI car.

Try telling that to all those people involved in accidents with human drivers. In a few decades, we'll be used to self-driving vehicles, and the thought of human drivers that make way more mistakes will be the case that seems pretty scary. Much of it is about what we're used to rather than what's better overall.
