Then again, people crush on characters in literature where their appearance is entirely constructed in our imagination, so maybe there's something to be said for less being more.

Still, for me at least I don't remember having any video game crushes as a kid, mine were all from movies.

Oh but 1996 already had dial up internet and Tomb Raider had Natalie Cook in 1996 as official model. Plus plenty cosplay options.




I think my actual first crush was Atreyu in grade 6

The Neverending story was my story at that time, reading fantasy to escape bullying. The teacher had that movie on for her birthday in grade 4 (grade 6 here) and I wanted to be like Atreyu. I also had riding lessons back then because my sister was into horses and it was easier for my parents to put me on them as well as a two for one deal. Horses are much nicer than people anyway lol.



Before that it was Mowgli from Jungle book which I saw in kindergarten. Although I guess it's more a Freundschaftscrush or bromance / squish.
