I think the APU will not be their biggest challenge, it is rumored to not be a big jump as expected in rasterization but because indeed I expect they are counting with PSSR 2 (not the current one) helping a lot. I don't think we should have anything less than a 1080p native render, tho, we will still be topping at 4K for sure, 8K is simply not sticking around anytime soon, so 1080p/1440p to 4K via the PSSR 2 should bring excellent results. I think we really don't need a big visual bump from the PS5 to the PS6. Games look so good nowdays, we are not aiming for a bigger output resolution like other generations, we have VRR, PSSR, Cerny already noticed a lot of gamers are choosing the higher framerate modes (me included), so I guess at least on that we don't have a need to spend so much on raw materials. People will complain the PS6 is the PS5.1 or something, they already do, but we at least do have a lot of tools to mitigate that power need we once had, and customers pockets would certain be happy with that, even if they minds would want more. |
I will keep it short, so I don't derail the thread. But FG has to generate the first real frame and the second real frame, holds the second frame back in order to calculate the fake frames in between.
Meaning
Native 60 fps is less latency than rendering 60 fps + adding fake frames.
To me the whole point is reduced latency, thus FG defeats the point.
