It launched in 2024 so, if it's a promotion of something, it's well pst due. Plus their only other game on Steam is paid and launched earlier, in 2021.

I don't know, maybe they thought it was too short to charge for it, as too many people would complain about how short it was. Or worse, buy it, finish it, and then ask for a refund since it's below the 2 hour limit Steam has to refund a game. And so they decided to just make it free.

Maybe it's a bit of a byproduct of something else they're working on? Or maybe they're hoping to sell enough soundtrack copies to make some money? It'd be a curious strategy to hope to sell so many soundtracks though.
