It's more about console collectors than everyday gamers. Everyday gamers won't really have a problem, as you said. But suppose you buy a digital game on your PS5 today and in ten years, you pull the system out of storage because you want to play it, only to find that you can't because the game was de-listed. You bought it. It's on your system. You even hooked it up to the internet... but no soup for you. Sorry. Game is inaccessible.

That's the problem.

If you bought the digital game on your console and STILL have it installed on that console, even after it's delisted it will still play. (Not including multiplayer obviously). Namco Bandai delisted Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth from PSN in 2019 after Hacker's Memory came out. I still have it installed on PS5/PSV and play it to this day.

Well that's good news.
