Those are just some of the turn based RPGs that Square released *since* FFXVI, which doesn't even include most games from Team Asano that came before it. I am so, so tired of Final Fantasy fans saying Square doesn't know how to make turn based RPGs anymore. Try literally any other recent game in their catalog, will ya?

I can rephrase, if that helps.  Expedition 33 is better than anything Square has done in decades.  It blasted game awards for a reason.  Expedition 33 is top shelf, must play and is easily one of the greatest turn based rpgs crafted.  A smaller studio out did Square on their first attempt.

So what? The FFVII games are a remake, and a lot of people love complaining about the combat for not being turn based, doesn't those remakes deserve recognition for staying turn based?

And E33, as good as it is, was the most overrated game from last year, just because it was a JRPG made by Western devs, who also happened to be "darling indie devs", who also happened to be ex-Ubisoft employees when AC Shadows was brand new and hating Ubisoft was the coolest thing if you were a gamer.

Good game, but most of its praise happened because of a perfect storm of who the devs were, not because of the game itself.
