Seconding what TheRealSamusAran said. This discourse is tiring. It just shows how so many people tend and prefer to follow trends instead of actually meaning to play a game that could have interested them if they were more curious about what already exists. E33 is an hommage, (well, I'd call that a mishmash) made to the genre that didn't need to be saved. There are already way too many good games to play to act like E33 is "the first one to do it right".

Good. 33 is a fantastic game, one of the best this generation. 16 was meh, if I am being nice. I am glad someone showed Square how to make a great turn based rpg.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake

Octopath Traveler 0

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined

Those are just some of the turn based RPGs that Square released *since* FFXVI, which doesn't even include most games from Team Asano that came before it. I am so, so tired of Final Fantasy fans saying Square doesn't know how to make turn based RPGs anymore. Try literally any other recent game in their catalog, will ya?
