We won't agree on this and I don't respect your stance. Developer hands should not be forced nor blamed for the actions of leakers. Games should be able to be announced 4months ahead of time without being spoiled, just like Split Fiction was at the game awards ahead of it's March release or just like how they Shadow dropped Metroid Prime Remastered. I'll just end by saying that I hope Nintendo is able to tighten the leaks so they're able create the special moments of surprising audiences at whatever pace they as the makers of the work feel appropriate. |
Suppose you park your car in a area known for car thefts and don't lock the door. Your car gets stolen.
Does this justify the actions of the car thief? No.
Should you have locked your door? Yes.
Likewise, leaks are a known risk. The longer you hold out on announcing the more likely your anouncement is to be spoiled. It's not right, but it's reality.
