Play a hidden gem released in 2021 called Chorus stylized as Chorvs. That is exactly what I want from a new Starfox. You have open regions of space to explore but not too big. You have a story and mini side missions. Small Zelda like dungeons in your spaceship. The ship upgrades (given by story progression) are really cool. There is a demo out there but I think it takes place at the start of the game when you have a junk ship rather than the cool ship you get after that. I am just talking Gameplay not the story of that game. Go play Chorus. It's great.

You might have just sold me on this game...it's 90% off on Steam right now. Might pick it up today!

Anyway I agree Star Fox should evolve, but in a good way haha as most people haven't liked the attempts at Star Fox since SF64. But that in no way means Nintendo should just go back to SF64 formula, that game is 30 years old and while certainly a good game it wasn't mindblowingly great or anything, I think people hype it up too much just because Nintendo always kinda failed to make a better SF game after that. Honestly the thing I remember most about SF64 is beating it the day I got it and I was like wtf really, that was the first game I'd ever beat the day I got it, meaning it was a short easy game, fun though for sure.

I'd say Nintendo should stick to just arwing combat, no other vehicles, and do a mix of on-rails and open flight but with the open flight in restricted levels to keep the combat intense, so you can't just roam around empty areas. It's Nintendo so I wouldn't expect much of a story, but at least make the game much longer than SF64 lol.

Anyway, I think I'll be playing Chorvs instead haha
