Man, that Japan only model is the only thing keeping PS5 afloat over there.

Without it, it'd probably be selling sub-5k and dangerously close the Xbox levels. Holy Hell, Sony REALLY dropped the ball over there. That's what happens when you give the Japanese audience the shaft in favor of the Western audience for nearly 2 decades.

Especially while Nintendo doubled down on the Japanese audience and now, they rule the market with an iron fist. They damn near run a monopoly over there.

Sony is keeping a low-price model in Japan that western markets only dream to have

The narrative Sony shafted Japan is false. Sony tried, but Japan is the one that simply stopped caring for Sony and its games

If the rumours are true, Sony is trying to develop a new portable, this is an obvious wave to Japanese market

Sony simply doesn't have the right console, neither the right games. You can even call Sony incompetent, which is true to varying degrees

But to say they didn't try to cater Japanese market is bogus. The only market more pampered by Sony than Japan is the USA, and even USA is soon getting shafted now Xbox pretty much died

I only wish Sony put 20% of the effort they put in Japan in LATAM. At this point we are already buying more consoles and games than Japan anyway

They have tried, but their decline in Japan shows how vulnerable you can become when the selling point of your console in a country is just third party games, all their first party games are made in the west for mostly western markets, so when the Japanese third party games that used to sell people on PS in Japan like Final Fantasy are in steep decline there, that left them with no answers to Nintendo in Japan So PS is mostly a victim of Japanese gamers changing taste over the years, a few decades ago something like Animal Crossing was an ultra niche game on N64 in Japan at the same time Final Fantasy sold people massively on PS1 there.
