Looks like Trump will chicken out, if they could re-open the Strait of Hormuz easily they would have moved on it already I think, but we'll see. Iran has them scared to try it looks like.
Basically they did all this to replace an old Ayatollah with a younger one who's liable to be more angry (they killed his family), and now ships are going to have to pay Iran in Chinese yuan for passage through the straight (which is a big blow to the US petrodollar).
For the US honestly this is a terrible result. 2 months ago the strait was open and the US petrodollar still had dominant sway, China is probably quite pleased if this is the result.
