Cant see why. In a world reigned by capitalism, not everything is for everyone. That's why we have such category. But that doesn't stop the less affortunates to have fun, like you are trying to imply. Until the world that we live is completely ruined by war and the incesant resources mining, there will always be a lot of affordable ways to get entertainment. Specially the things that dont rely on tech complexity |
I'm just saying the luxury argument is a slippery slope, i.e. if you actually adhere to it, things will start to look very bad, because so many things in life are luxuries if you think about it. Fast internet access outside work? Mostly luxury. Books? Luxury. Sports equipment? Luxury. Meat? Luxury. Your favourite food? Probably luxury. Paper and pencils? Luxury (probably somewhat depending on where you live). Our lives are just full of different kinds of luxuries, and if all of it cost unreasonably much, you wouldn't be able to afford all that much Sure, there would still be affordable things left too, but overall, that sounds like fairly bland life to me.
There's probably ways to frame gaming differently from all the other luxuries, but simply excusing high costs for something because it's a luxury is a terrible argument.
