Even if that rumour is untrue... the PS+ prices are already too high.
PS+ was a no-brainer until they got greedy and splitted it into "Essential", "Extra" and "Premium".
Especially if you also had a PSVita additionally to you PlayStation home console.
You got monthly PS3 games PLUS monthly Vita games PLUS monthly PS4 games for just 30 - 40 bucks per year (2.50 - 3.50 Euros per month).
Those licences were also permanent... they were no temporary titles which can disappear from the subscription library anytime.
Of course they are only active in paid subscrition months, but you can unsubscribe for months (or years) and when you resubscribe, all of them are available again.
The same goes for Xbox Live Gold / GamePass. It was such a great deal!
The Xbox360 (and original Xbox) game licenses of Xbox Live Gold even stayed active after the subscription ended!
In 2024 both my PS+ and my GamePass subscriptions ran out and I haven't missed them for a second since then.
