PC allows you to access any game from any system at zero cost so long as you already own it… so as far as ownership is concerned, PC is far better than PS5/NS2. That said, Steam is definitely a tricky situation, as I don’t feel like I own any of the games I purchase there. But at the same time, I’ll be able to emulate these games regardless come ten years or so… so who cares if I physically own the game?

(In short: I’m very confused lol! Dropping PS5 was 100% the right call though, as all that gave me was modern AAA releases, but where my interests lie are in older games. On top of the far superior performance and greater sense of ownership of non-modern games, it makes sense for me to have moved to PC. I would like to have a physical copy of modern games I really cherish, though mostly just because I like having a tangible object of memorabilia, less so to have any form of legitimate ownership.)

So just buy the NS1 version of Sonic Superstarts and Origins Plus and play them on PC, why would you need to wait for NS2 version if you are going to play the best version of it on PC for free regardless as long as you have ownership of it somewhere else?

PC does have a lot of strong points, onwership is definitely not one of them since Steam pretty much dominated it.

My strategy is: Purchase NS1 versions (unless NS2 versions are on-cart) and boot them up on NS2 with the patch. I get them accessible If I wanna play them on PC, I’ll dump the ROM files and run through Ryujinx. As far as ownership is concerned, honestly I don’t even know what that word means anymore in the context of video games: Physical media decays with time, digital console storefront and PC servers will go down with time, the closest you can really get to “owning” a game is by having access to online resources which provide a copy of the game’s files and an emulator.
