Put me in the camp of somebody who enjoyed it and still thinks positively a few months out.
I thought it was a better game than Prime 3. I don't think all Metroid games need to be metroid-vanias , and consider even Prime 1 to be barely such (it hides it well), with Prime 2 onward not falling in the genre, in my opinion.
The series probably does need to shift back in the non-linear direction though. I hope Metroid Prime 5 (which I think will happen) has the aesthetics of Prime 4 with the world design of say Dark Souls 1 (obviously not the same platform mechanics or combat, just the layering and multi entry-point design.) That's probably what most people want.
