Fun fact Americans seems to be totally unaware of: Since the war started, Iran has been increasing its oil exports at the Strait of Hormuz. Shadow tankers (Chinese owned tankers operating under weird flags) have continuously loaded Iranian oil and sailed east. Apparently the tankers use short-wave radio transmissions to communicate with Iranians that "we are the good guys, don't shoot"... |
Yep,
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi told the AFP News Agency that Iran has allowed ships from some countries to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. “Some countries have already talked to us about passing the strait, and we have cooperated with them,” he said during an interview in Tehran. “As far as Iran is concerned, we feel that those countries that joined the aggression should not benefit from safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”
Some other ships are getting through as well changing their destination to China. I guess those are the shadow tankers.

Still over 2/3rds of what flowed through the straight (total 20-21 million barrels per day) is not getting out. And food isn't coming in to the gulf states. A lot more than oil went through the straight.
And people are leaving

US arranges nearly 50 charter flights from the Middle East: State Department
The Trump administration says it has organised almost 50 flights to return US citizens from the Middle East since the start of the US-Israel war with Iran.
“By the end of today, we’ll have completed approximately four dozen flights and safely evacuated thousands of Americans from the Middle East on those flights,” a State Department official said.
TotalEnergies set to lose 15 percent of global production due to conflict
French oil giant TotalEnergies said it will lose 15 percent of its global production due to shutdowns in the Middle East relating to the ongoing conflict.
In a statement on its investor website, the firm said it has shut down, or is in the process of shutting down, its production in Qatar, Iraq and offshore United Arab Emirates due to the crisis.
TotalEnergies also said that a higher oil price, which has occurred as a consequence of the conflict, would more than offset the loss of production in the Middle East.
Don't worry, the billionaires and mega corporation's bottom line will be fine!
