I am usually more pessimistic personally.

This just feels like the admin doesn't have a plan, and is not smart enough to understand any other lever other than attacking someone. They don't actually seem to be smart enough to know how to attack someone, considering they lost a few jets for basically no reason.

Actually using diplomacy would probably be the best option.

But even ignoring things like diplomacy, there are still other options. At one point, the government is believed to have used a virus to destroy a portion of Iran's nuclear capabilities: Stuxnet

The administration just seems so stupid and antagonistic that they're likely just going to get people killed.

And it does seem fortunate right now, that this is something that most conservatives even seem to be pushing back on. Hopefully that continues.

And the general public seems furious.  I think the GOP is in trouble come November.  Hopefully we flip and neuter Trump or flatly impeach him.  I am optimistic.  I have relatives who voted Trump and now (literally) are watching their kids be deployed.  Let us say many have had a sudden change of opinion.

We'll see how it plays out, but it's looking the Republicans have screwed themselves royally. Part of the reason Trump did so well in many areas was the Latino vote and he's turned them against him. Even the Gerrymandering they did in Texas is looking like it is backfiring on them. They drew up the districts like the Latino vote was a given. With Trumps ICE and immigration shenanigans, that Latino vote has flipped against them to such a degree it's overridng their Gerrymandering. I have heard talk of Texas being a place for gains before but, usually it's smoke and mirrors. However the number of Demcratic primary voters  surpassed the number of Republican primary votes by a fair margin. That's basically unprecedented.
