Hundreds of nationalist protesters rallied outside Bulgaria’s Council of Ministers in Sofia, demanding the immediate removal of US military aircraft stationed at Sofia Airport. Demonstrators chanted “NATO out!” and warned that Bulgaria risks becoming a military target as the Middle East conflict escalates following US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

Speakers accused Washington of dragging the country into war and questioned the growing American military presence. Bulgaria’s Defence Ministry says the deployed Boeing KC-135 aircraft are for logistical and training support under NATO measures, not combat. Protesters remain unconvinced, insisting Bulgaria should not be drawn into a widening regional confrontation.

Unpopularity of Iran war 'almost unprecedented' this early on, expert says


Speaking with FRANCE 24's Sharon Gaffney, Stephen Zunes, Professor of Politics and Programme Director for Middle Eastern Studies at the University of San Francisco, says that "even in the most controversial wars, like Iraq, when the war initiates, people tend to rally around the flag [...] this is remarkable that at the very beginning of the war there's overwhelming opposition not only from liberals and the left, but much of Trump's spaces as well".

Meanwhile Iranians are rallying around the flag to defend their country. Chances of Iranians uprising against their government are much lower now, especially since US/Israel are bombing the major cities, the places were there was most support for regime change.

The only place this war is popular among the general population is Israel. It's the only place where government and citizens are in alignment. Every where else it's government ignoring the will of their people and doing what they want. That said, I have to wonder how that will hold. Iran's strategy seems twofold. Exhaust the stockpile of US and Israeli interceptors and make their neighbors allied with the Israel and the US share in the pain of this war. The former was proven effective last June. Once their interceptor supply dwindled Israel sought out a ceasefire. This time around, I don't foresee Iran being open to a "ceasefire". Setting aside the fact that Israel has never seen a ceasefire they wouldn't break, Iran knows that a ceasefire would just be a stalling tactic to allow Israel to resupply their interceptors. So it's simply going to be a matter of if Iran can hold onto enough of their missile launch capabilities after their drones exhaust the interceptors. If they can Israel is going to be in for a world of hurt. Especially with them putting military facilities in residential areas. Yes Israel uses human shields.  Virtually every accusation they make is something they themselves are guilty of.
