There is also only a few million PS5 in Japan. If I had to guess 5,5 to 6 million is the right number of PS5 systems in the actual hands of consumers. The rest was sold to scalpers and resellers |
There are 7mil PS5 units sold in JP. All scalpers have likely sold their inventory to genuine consumers given that it’s been 3 years since the shortage ended.
Additionally, the big reason why there is this narrative surrounding Switch 2 and third-party games is solely based on the size of the Nintendo install-base. Yes the hardware ratio between NS2 and PS5 is quite a bit lobsided at the moment, but the point is that eventually once NS2 has gotten large enough, then we’ll really start to see these third-party games perform well. The ratio doesn’t matter.
Also, from what I’ve heard, these figures are a essentially everything Capcom shipped out— had more than 38k copies of RERequiem had been shipped, then perhaps sales would be different. Should have a better idea over these next few weeks.
Those are my two cents. No point in arguing further.
