Around a month after being acquired, it was BP themselves who confirmed they were working on 'original content' (and had already stared support on Ragnarok it seems). I don't think there's much debate as to why Sony acquired them: it wasn't to do keep doing remakes.

Hey, why don't you guys work on remaking some older PS2/PS3 games, while figuring out your new game project?

A proper remake/remaster of Resistance, InFamous, Killzone, etc. 

I wonder if the economics didn't work out, but a Killzone 2 remake especially would've been really cool.

FFS. The game should be great as they ever make them to be, but I don't understand why Sony needs to try to distance from popular characters they develop so much.

I think it'll be ok.  There are a vocal part of the GoW fanbase that have been interested in a game where you play as Freya, Thrud or even Seth (if set in Egypt). 

But would've been great if this dude didn't say anything. Reveal would've been epic.
