These wars are giving more countries a reason to develop nuclear weapons, to protect themselves from invasion. 

In the 1970s, at the time of the "Arab" oil crisis, Iran (which is not an Arab state) was actually the most powerful member of OPEC and had final control of oil pricing. The shah manipulated oil prices to net Iran a 33% in GDP growth in 1974 and 40% in 1975. Saudi Arabia was not a major player at that time, and only became a major player after the Iranian Revolution.
