Definitely Tears of the Kingdom for me, as it feels like a bigger and much improved Breath of the Wild. The building mechanic alone is just incredible.
Breath has the "wow" factor advantage and the first few hours are better the way it eases you into the game. Tears begins more like something for people who have already played Breath. You also have to deal with some goofy looking weapons in Tears but at least there's a significant upside to that. And it sucks to lose the Guardian enemies but things like the Gleeoks and Gloom Hands make up for that.
But once you get auto-build, Tears gets so good. Being able to just whip-up creations is almost game-breaking, but in a good way. I've built a Lynel killer, a Gleeok killer, and everyone should build that simple little hoverbike that can take you anywhere. It feels so liberating in an open-world game like this to just fly right up to the sky area and watch all of Hyrule below you during a sunset and it's particularly amazing looking now on Switch 2 at 60fps with good HDR. And getting 100% now on everything via Zelda Notes has me engrossed in the game all over again. Unfortunately, the game again lacks anything on the level of the traditional 3D Zelda dungeons but at least we get better bosses in Tears.
I'd pick Super Mario Odyssey next. Incredible game.
