Surely there will be changes, but to expect them to turn more “hardcore console gamer friendly” again is pretty far fetched. They want the bottom line to get better, that’s all. And if they can achieve that as a third party publisher with lowered development costs via more AI tools, by phasing out gamepass and ditching hardware then they’ll do that. I am sure they have boys and girls and bots pretty skilled at calculating that ran through the different scenarios and found what promises the most lucrative outcome. Contrary to us here they have no feelings involved for console gaming. As many have mentioned, how could they even do a 180 on console, they have lost so much brand credibility for their console, they can’t get that back in years (and the attempt would be so costly). Even if, what is the potential? All the talk about that the console market in total is not growing and that Gen Z/ Gen Alpha are not buying/playing console is still true. I just cannot see it would even make sense for them to pursue that market from where they currently stand. Too much effort needed for too little to gain. Damage control and keep console business and gamepass alive while restructuring, sure. But I do not expect a vision for console gaming.
