I mean the answer is obviously because of money and capitalism. You'd have to include those 2 years of a cancelled project on top of whatever the remake is going to cost to make and time to develop.

And that doesn't even take into account that they were only a support studio for 3 years before.

If the remake releases in 2028, this is a studio who would have taken 8 years to release their next game and it would've been just a remake.

Bluepoint would be helping while pitching their own games too, like they did in 2025.

Sony would be using the talented devs to help on other projects while also giving them more time to make something else.

If the studio itself can't figure out what to do, just change the lead or point them yourself, firing talent is always the worst possible outcome, they could still bring a lot of money and brand value to Sony.

Chasing only instant massive profit is a good way to get yourself screwed, like they did with the live service projects, they are actually losing more money by firing them, after buying them.

Paying the salary of an entire team + real estate etc in a city like Austin for 6 years (+ more) without a new release is not 'instant massive profit', like come on.

I'm not happy about ppl losing their jobs, but it's not an ideal situation financially to have found themselves in.
