To me, this reads like one of the remakes BP proposed was the OG GoD games. It makes sense since they even wanted to do a live service game in that world initially. But SSM wanted the GoW remake in house for them and makes sense since that project is only in the early stages. It's what comes to my mind too, thus why they were closed right after the God of War Trilogy was announced and revealed to be in-house by Santa Monica.

But that raises a big question: why not have Bluepoint help with it until they can get another game greenlit? That would both help Santa Monica have more time to work on their other projects, and that Bluepoint also have time to work things out, it was win-win for both studios, and they already helped Santa Monica with God of War Ragnarok so it would be a really smooth process.

Why close the studio then? If after the God of War Trilogy was out they STILL couldn't pitch a single game of their own, them make them remake another game, and if that ALSO doesn't work out... well, sure, then the studio was being a fad. But that is far from what happened now.

I mean the answer is obviously because of money and capitalism. You'd have to include those 2 years of a cancelled project on top of whatever the remake is going to cost to make and time to develop. 

And that doesn't even take into account that they were only a support studio for 3 years before. 

If the remake releases in 2028, this is a studio who would have taken 8 years to release their next game and it would've been just a remake.
