Also, very interesting that Nintendo is dropping this same day as Tomodachi Life. Puts to rest the idea that Nintendo is padding out their release schedule with NS2 Editions.

Xenoblade X has no real story tie in to 1-3. While 1-3 are stand alone they are connected. You can jump in X just fine. It's a great game but it's different in many ways. Still very much a Xenoblade game but a Gaiden game.

Good note. Also… I feel that I should add that my reason in maybe wanting to hold out until Xeno4 is so that I’m not fatigued of the franchised by the time of the new release. Skipping all four mainline Xenoblade releases on Switch 1 was definitely my biggest regret of the Switch generation. Don’t want to do it again.
