Yeah politics has gotten ridiculous, whether its Star Wars Outlaws being allegedly woke cos it has a female lead, or Stellar Blade being "misogynist/alt right" cos the main character is sexy, it's always some bullshit with almost every big release now. Some games do deserve it to be fair, but in most cases its just trolls looking for any excuse to dunk on something.

Not everything needs to be about team red vs team blue, but some people are so consumed by fanatical allegiance to their ideology that they see absolutely everything as a battleground where they must aggressively force their views on others. It sucks.

95% of hate campaigns in video games come from the right. Trying to both-sides the discussion is not really helpful. Even a game like Stellar Blade that got some pushback didn’t have any real sustained campaign against it. I didn’t see any review bombing, I don’t think the actress that played Eve got death threats and YouTube is not filled with ragebait videos about it.

That's because most people who play games and are just normal folk are now considered "right wing". All it takes is to not agree word for word on some single talking point with the loud left, and in the right wing box you go.

I've been gaming since the eighties and there was never a problem with politics until 2012 or something like that. We did not start this, the lefties came in and started pissing on everything we loved and now we are all here. I guess it was inevitable when gaming transitioned from cringy nerd activity to mainstream popularity and new demographics started pouring in. Mind you, it's not all leftists, just the loudest internet minority, but the internet is such a power multiplier for hot takes that everybody gets dragged into it.
