It´s sad to see media outlets being coy in referring to the content here.
It´s not like it´s actually ¨pirated¨ content, or even a special program to download that etc.
It´s just unlocking the console´s ROM to allow running your own software. You know, as if you had bought it or something.
If there is any nexus with ¨pirating¨, that would be in the future and several steps away.
This is no more pirating than buying a Windows or Apple PC that allows you to install your software.
(actually those are one further step towards ¨potential piracy¨ than this is, which is just unlocking ability to alter ROM)
And so many are eager to volunteer to demonize something just becaus of some hypothetical tangential future linkage to something Sony doesn´t like.
(of course once upon a time Sony publicized themselves doing this, hyping how PS3 was supercomputer which could run Linux)
