The year isn’t over yet, and a lot of “2025” films aren’t localized until February-March in my country. So it is going to be a best of 2025 so far. I only saw 6 movies of this year by now.
The greatest impression was the norwegian movie Sentimental Value, which was an extremely touching family drama with some of the greatest acting ever. It is in the top 10 movies of the decade for me.
It Was Just an Accident was also quite fantastic and an essential viewing.
Bugonia was really good, but not among Lanthimos greatest.
One Battle after Another was enjoyable enough, but as a major PTA fan, I was a bit disappointed, was expecting it to have a bit more substance. The danish movie The Last Viking was a fun comedy, but nothing outstanding, while the documentary Mr. Nobody against Putin was quite good, a bit depressing and certainly informative.
