Does it really count as "milking the franchise" in the traditional sense when the carry-overs between games tend to be minor, and when individual installments can stand out on their own entirely independent of the rest of the series? One of the reasons why Nintendo has such a good reputation (and why the Final Fantasy series is usually given the benefit of the doubt for new mainstay games) is because they don't just keep remaking the same games with a few small things changed.
