I was trying to think in things that boosted and hindered each console. With the Switch, I thought things like COVID and Trump's tariffs, for example. When it came to the PS2 I thought about PS3's problematic lauch + discounts, but I couldn't think of things that hindered its sales. One can mention the video game market back then being small, but I was trying to things that broke the console's legs, like the Trump's tariffs that I mentioned, or how the DS somewhat halted GBA's sales. Can you guys help me here?

I was thinking about that to say that you can't detach a console's sales from the time and circustances it was inserted. We should just accept the context of the console as the part of the reason why it got/will get its final sales numbers. But I was also going to say that saying "If X had happened/happens to console Y, it would have happened/will happen Z with it" isn't downplaying or promoting the console. It's just hypothetical exercise. In the end, it doesn't lead to anything but it's fun to think about the scenario for a moment
