Do people discredit the X360 numbers because of Rrod and repurchases inflated the numbers? No they don't, they're accepted. If the PS2 is really the "more popular" console, it shouldn't be a large amount behind the Switch after 8 years.

The PS2 was replaced long before 8 years passed otherwise it would have sold much more. The wider context. If DS wasn't replaced prematurely it would have destroyed the switch, it sold 20m the year before it was replaced, higher than the Switch sold each year after 2021. The wider context.
