I think the Series S is among the main problems; it has often delivered a rather poor version of multiplatform/3rd party games, while the brand/platform as a whole has suffered under a lack of proper system-selling exclusives. It was a strange strategy from Microsoft to both count of Gamepass as a system-seller, and simultaneously tout Gamepass as a viable service for other platforms. I figure they never counted on selling that many Xbox Series consoles, but I doubt they planned for it sell this poorly.
