The latest (hopefully not last) Metroid Prime game to give us a proper expansive interconnected world to get lost in. And what a world it gave us. Aether was a dense maze I still struggle to find my way around even having played this several times, but it is certainly the most well put together world in Metroid Prime history. You get a clear sense of the geography these areas are in, because their connections feel tangible and visible, and it's amazing seeing the very alien architecture of the Luminoth as you uncover more and more of their lore.

I feel like Echoes lacks a little punch in areas the other Prime games excel at, and I have a couple major gripes with it (mainly how the Dark World was incorporated), but in terms of immersing you deeply into an isolating alien planet, no game in the series comes close - and that may even include the 2D games.
