As somebody who plays NS2 in Docked almost exclusively, I really cannot comment on most of this. I’ve found the Pro Controller to be extremely comfortable in the hands.
Have you considered third-party accessories to add to the first-party controllers? I will say that the size increase is a tremendous upgrade over NS1– I found the joy cons on NS1 to be highly uncomfortable and way too small, whereas on NS2, my only complaint is they will often rest in my hands in a “crooked” orientation (which I’d imagine there exists a third-party accessory that could address this… I may actually look into this and report back if you’d be interested)..
As for the screen, I’m one of those weird people who aftually prefers the non-OLED over the OLED (though that could be a consequence of me having grown up on NS1 and having played a ton in handheld back when I was in MS/HS, whereas I have only done a handful of sessions in handheld on my NSWOLED). FWIW I was blown away by the NS2 screen and audio— it really does feel like a massive upgrade over NS1. So much so that I would be open to playing more often in handheld mode, as the experience is so comparable to docked now.
As for games? The current big offerings are: MKWorld, DKBananza, Kirby Air Riders, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokémon Legends Z-A, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and a ton of upgraded NS1 titles (e.g. SMOdyssey & Zelda @ 4k 60fps). How much you’d get out of this software is individual preference. I personally have been glued to the system since launch, with rarely a moment having gone by without a game to sunk my teeth into (and I’ve only played MKWorld, Kirby Airs Riders, and some of DKBananza up until this point).
