FOR THOSE WHO ARE PURCHASING Metroid Prime 4: Beyond AND ARE DECIDING BETWEEN Switch 1 Edition & Switch 2 Edition—

The Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 Editions of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond can be played on both a Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 system. The only difference is that (i) the NS2 Edition played on NS1 will lack NS2 upgrades, and (ii) the NS1 Edition played on NS2 will also lack NS2 upgrades. In the latter instance, you can get access to the NS2 upgrades via a digital upgrade; this is different from playing the NS2 Edition on NS2 as the NS2 cart contains all NS2 upgrades on cart.

In short: NS2 Edition contains the NS2 upgrades via fully on cart whereas NS1 requires a separate download. Both NS1 & NS2 Editions are compatible on both NS1 & NS2.

(Also, I ended up purchasing the game. Will be picking it up shortly. Whether I’ll be playing it next week? I’m unsure. Expedition 33 continues to be a very tempting option.)
