Honestly, Nintendo's entire lineup this year has reviewed a bit worse than I would've imagined.

SeriesSwitch 1 EntrySwitch 2 Entry
3D Super Mario / DK9791
Hyrule Warriors7879
Kirby Air RideN/A80
Mario Kart9286
Metroid Prime94*81
Pokemon Legends8378

Roughly speaking, that's three or so games that fared notably worse than their Switch counterparts and NONE that fared better critically. Hopefully this is just me making a mountain out of a speed bump, but it does seem like a potential trend.

Eh… MarioKart, Metroid Prime, and DKBananza are a tad bit unfair to be comparing. I’d imagine MKWorld will stand toe-to-toe with MK8Deluxe once improvements such as 200cc, DLC courses, and further online fixes are implemented. MPRemastered was a shadow-dropped remake of one of the most critically revered games of all time. And while DKBananza is a big deal, Nintendo likely wasn’t giving it the same attention as a mainline 3D Mario. Maybe comparing it to DKCReturns/TF would be a more reasonable comparison? But then, still not the best.

As far as Pokémon is concerned, (i) that’s not Nintendo developed so Nintendo QA doesn’t seem too relevant here, and (ii) the game is objectively a big step up from all other Pokémon Switch games— even Legends Arceus (if not critically). Still has comparable OC score to Legends Arceus: 83 v 80.
