The mention of Aven Colony reminds me of Surviving Mars. I recently started playing the original Surviving Mars again due to the release of its remaster (I didn't get the remaster, it's a terrible deal), and I gotta say, it really suffers from poor pacing. It might be just my playstyle, but regardless, there's a lot of waiting, maybe even without aim, and this is coming from someone that has no issues with Minecraft being without any real objectives. Surviving Mars just never seems to have anything 'just around the corner'. Maybe if I had my sights set on something more strongly, the game could be more enjoyable, but at the moment it's really hard for me to get past the early stages of a colony.

In that case, I don't think Aven Colony is your game either. I'm quite pacient and have not problem playing city-builder games at x1 speed, but Aven was so slow at times that I even made it to its max speed, x8.

Don't get me wrong, the game gives you missions to complete, so you always have something to work for besides the survival of the colony, but it's a very slow paced game.

Thanks for the heads-up! I can be quite patient as well, but Surviving Mars just didn't work out for me. On the other hand, I enjoy Farthest Frontier tremendously, and it's not exactly fast-paced either. However, it kind of has that 'one more turn' thing going on that many of know from Civilization (but obviously it's not turns in Farthest Frontier). Aven Colony sounds like something I might enjoy more due to the missions, but I don't know. Maybe I'll find out one day.
