| Kyuu said: Keep it up man. I was unhealthy and very skinny but turned my life around and gained over 20 kg of mostly muscle. Now I weight 80-81 kg at 186 cm height. My final target is 90-95 kg, a long way to go, but I'm pleased with my progress. I used to consume soft drinks and sugary junk like a maniac (3 cans + 400ml orange juice + 3 large spoons of sugar + 5 large pieces of bread across 3 varied meals every day). I couldn't really gain weight due to my natural high metabolism, but eliminating sugar and dairy products (minus healthy cheese, butter, and occasionally yogurt), and lowering my carbs intake improved my health a lot. I'm also 100% committed to intermittent fasting which is probably a contributing factor. I tried ketogenic diet for a few months, but it didn't suit me (or my wallet lol). It hindered my muscle growth rate, and messed up my digestion (mixed greens and some nuts were particularly bad). Stay healthy, kick out the negative thoughts, and have fun finding what works for you! |
Cheers, and congrats on your progress too, that's awesome.
Sugar was a big problem for me too, used to drink a lot of juice and coke, (replaced that with black coffee and green tea) eat sugary cereal, (replaced it with oats) and have takeaways a lot when I felt too lazy to cook.
It's especially tricky cos I am on anxiety medication that promotes weight gain, so I gotta work really hard to not put on fat. My Dad was overweight and he passed when I was a teenager, at just 14 years older than I am now, so I gotta look out.
