The PS5 has a big advantage, they can do massive price promotions due to everyone buying games digitally there and subscribing to the expensive PS+. Nintendo on the other hand is stuck with expensive cartridges and most people buy their games at retail, leading to low profit. As well as they get very little subscription money so they can't recoup price promotions as easy as Sony can.

With all due respect, Nintendo is king when it comes to profit. I mean:

Their hardware has the highest profit margin.

Their games are the cheapest (by far) to develop, and now they're going to cost up to $80.

Their online service offers the least benefit to users.

They are the ones who do the fewest price cuts and promotions.

Sorry, but Nintendo is no "poor little thing." They are the company with the highest profits margin and the greatest greed.

Playstation is now more profitable than Nintendo and has been for years, guess why? Because Nintendo is not getting any of the digital, subscription and live service boom Sony is getting from gaming. Nintendo's old school selling games at retail model and getting next to no money from online and live service games means they stand no chance to compete with Sony in price cuts on hardware, Sony can bleed money on hardware and still make insane profits as we see from their financial reports.
