They like money. but also, what is the number they expect to sell it. The less they sell, the more profit they need to make per console. Steam game sales don't depend if the system sells, so there's no point to sell it any way cheap. It's a custom built system anyway with apparently a custom motherboard and custom GPU (or CGPU). |
I see your point.
Its just if they sell like 3m at 150$ profit on each unit sale.... vs 20m (or more) sold at 50$ profit on each unit.
I always assume these giants want to own the space they are in.
Not like valve is short on money anyways, they earn billions every year.
They have a chance of making history with the steam machine.
A chance to actually take market share away from Microsoft, and windows.
They can change history,.... That sounds way cooler, than pocketing some extra money.
Gabe isn't lacking money right?
Guy just spend like 500m+ on a super yacht..... and that peanuts to him.
What good does more money do him? when he probably already has more than he could ever spend.
I'm kinda rooting for the under-dog here.
I wanna see this thing take off, and sell really well, and maybe make linux or steamOS a real competitor to microsoft / windows.
