I would like to open a question for the VGChartz community: Should claims rejecting official video game shipment, sale, or financial/fiscal data be allowed on this site? Or should moderation step in?

Let me be crystal clear in saying that I personally do not hold a stance one way or the other; however, I do perceive that remarks of this sort often are employed not in a thoughtful nor good faith manner, thereby accomplishing nothing more than antagonization and circular arguing. See the thread “The Road of 160+ mil for Nintendo Switch” for a demonstration of such behaviors.

I believe the figures your referring to involves the PS2. Where the last official financial data that Sony provided was a figure of 155m. Then recently Sony provided a figure of 160.0m on their website which is not official financial data as its never been audited like figures usually are when quarterly data is provided to the stock market.

This of course causes a lot of debate. Which is natural on a sales tracking website. Obviously this could have been avoided if Sony had kept reporting sales data for the PS2 until it was discontinued. But that's all in the past now.

As long as the comments from either side isn't too nasty then I don't see any reason why people can't give their opinion on where they feel the PS2 actually sits.
