WHich makes me curious as to why they brought a game that is not very popular among the states like crono trigger here and not the KH game or FF?

Maybe they think that the DS can crack the US/EU market with the game for them. Unlikely but worth a shot I suppose.

No FF, KH or DQ because clearly S-E are sending in their second rate games to E3 and saving their best stuff for their own event.

Star Ocean, Infinite Undiscovery, and The Last Remnant are second-rate?  If you want second rate, look at Haze and Lair.  Those games aren't even out yet.  Chrono Trigger is very popular.  Sales numbers are not good indication of a older game's popularity since most of CT's current fanbase got into it through emulation.  Another example is Earthbound.  That game flopped here when it came out in the US but now the game has developed a strong cult following.
