Aww you beat me to the punch. This is similar to £299/$349 so they're doing the same thing Nintendo did with that Japanese language only Switch 2 model as a way to have a model with a good price over there that won't get exported a ton. With how much the PS5 declined in Japan once the latest price increase there went into effect and this actually being a few thousand yen cheaper than the PS5 Digital was for most of last year this will help PS5 sales over there a lot in its final years and this holiday season so this was actually the most interesting announcement for me from that State of Play. Turns out they're not gonna do nothing while Playstation sales become horrendous in its home country. If the PS6 comes out in 2028 then the PS5 beating the PS4 in Japan suddenly feels possible again.
