Congrats to GameFreak and Pokémon Co.! :) Yet another powerful testimony to the fact that a game doesn’t need to be the prettiest in order to achieve success.

I'm not going to celebrate a game with a $13m budget lacking care, attention and polish selling so well lol. As has been the case for the past 8 years, a franchise like pokemon deserves much better. That you can put out a subpar product and sell it on brand strength is not something to be celebrated.

Pokemon selling so well while lacking any ambition is not something I can understand why anyone would be happy about.

But aside from that, the game should have very strong holiday sales. I don't expect legs to be particularly good going into future years but it can beat Arceus lifetime even with a weaker launch.

Exactly. People can celebrate if all they care about is Nintendo making money, probably same people who celebrated Nintendo jacking up prices a ton without cause on everything this gen. But for anyone who likes pokemon or wants good games, this is just pathetic.

Z-A is a new low for Game Freak and Pokemon. It's laughable how obviously little effort went into the game, far less than the other Switch Pokemon games. It's like Game Freak (or maybe Nintendo, whoever is in charge of the budget for this franchise) decided that mediocre games were too good for the franchise and just turned down the dial on absolutely every feature in the game. And it is such a tarnishing of the decent brand for Legends that Arceus had started. Arceus was the one glimmer of hope for Pokemon the past 8 years and Z-A just trashed the Legends series. It's a small, bad, zero effort game that looks like it was made 25 years ago for the Dreamcast but just in HD, and still would have been considered mediocre back then.

Anyone celebrating this as a "success" really needs to check themselves. As a gamer you're supposed to like and want good games, not reward companies for feeding you full priced slop and then celebrating millions of people's blind loyalty. What happened to getting mad at game companies when they stop caring about consumers and put out terrible games?? Is that not a thing anymore? Well, it obviously still is for many people seeing as how most user scores of this game are rightly in the 2-3 out of 10 range, but it's sad to see some people actually celebrate sales as though it's a replacement for an actual good game.

Z-A is a really sad moment for pokemon, nintendo, and gaming in general as I think this finally marks the complete downfall of the once celebrated Pokemon gaming franchise. This game seemed to be the final ultimate test by Game Freak to see if they can put in as little effort as humanly possible, and still sell normal pokemon numbers, and the answer is apparently yes. Which means we should probably never expect a good or even decent Pokemon game again because consumers have just validated their zero-effort approach.

Game Freak I think at this point is the most uncaring game studio in a biz of many uncaring studios, and Pokemon is the biggest joke up a franchise in gaming at this point, at that's saying a lot! But it's true.
