After six years, I have finally found somebody who relates to me on Kirby Star Allies. I had only really been interested in Nintendo for just over a year at that point in my life (when the game launched), and I was always so curious about these “classic” franchises like Kirby, Metroid, Yoshi, etc. I had never experienced them before, and the only system I ever wanted to play on back then was Switch. So, when Kirby Star Allies was revealed at E3 2017, my jaw dropped! And all the way up until launch, I was pumped!! The OST was sounding soooo good, “Buff” Dedede, seeing Kirby and Co. in HD for the first time… I felt like I finally had an opportunity to play what would be considered a “traditional” (i.e. 2D-with-generic-artstyle) Kirby.
For as tarnished this game is, I hold it very near and dear. This, Mario Tennis Aces, Pokémon LGPE, and SSBUltimate: World of Light are some of my favorite experiences of the Switch generation, despite being panned by fans.
