The press is currently going wild that a new Apple M5 chip can keep up with the M1 Ultra in multi core despite having only half as many cores.
Meanwhile, a Ryzen 9 9950X3D can keep up with a Threadripper 3990X despite having just a quarter of the cores. And the age difference is the same as between the Apple Silicon cores, as in 5 years (M1 launched in November 2020)
