They could easily have made the Switch Lite compatible with televisions it would only have cost a few cents but it would be limited to portable resolutions as the console is designed for lower clocks and cooling at those clocks. A lower grade tv output would have been useful occasionally even if the game was dynamically changing resolution to a very low resolution. However from what I've read those who have modded their Switch Lites have had no problem running at full resolution Switch resolutions with a hdmi adapter board. I really think the Switch 2 Lite should have TV output but again only at portable resolutions but I don't think a Switch 2 Lite is possible until they shrink the fabrication process to something more modern maybe 6Nm or less. The current T239 is on a mainly 10Nm fabrication process so generates more heat and is more power hungry and I really can't see that chip being usable in a smaller handheld with an even smaller capacity battery. I think the current Nintendo company is more interested in bringing out a more premium OLED Switch 2 but I could see a Lite model piggybacking on that if the OLED version has a new improved fabrication process just like the Switch Lite benefits from the same Mariko chip in the OLED Switch model. Maybe a Switch 2 Lite will have a slightly cut down spec too. Maybe only 128GB storage built in and slower read/write speeds plus memory incapable of running at docked memory speed just the 68GB/s portable level. Maybe just a 720p screen too with patches for portable games that can only run at 1080p. If you connect a Switch 2 to a 720p max external display then the Switch 2 must generate a 720p image so maybe there is a software layer to do the same for a lower resolution display panel already built in. This could be an advantage to running Switch 1 games on a Switch 2 lite.
I personally do think a Switch 2 Lite will happen but of course no idea when it will come out. We could be 4 or 5 years from it happening if its a lower priority for Nintendo.
My Switch Lite is my favourite Switch to carry with me in the backpack and use away from home.
